I think I just found myself a new favourite band. Heard they were recording a cover for the Toxicbreeds Comp, checked them out and instantly fell in love. Everything about this band is just “right”, musically it”s all just perfect - melodic and emotional guitar work that ranges from energetic to ambient in seconds topped with shreddy solos, tight drums, great bass parts. Vocally they sound a bit similar to “marching to the beat of a dead horse”-era Touché Amoré - only somewhat “stronger”, and to me that was the best work they put out so no complaints here either. Sometimes they even remind me of Basement, mostly musically I guess but I can’t even say why that is, it’s just a feeling I get. Lyrics are passionate, honest and just straight up good. Really, can’t say anything bad about this band other than that they don’t have any shirts in their bigcartel anymore. Check this out! Best things I’ve heard in a long long time!

I have no idea how the guys from Elementary Revolt got this, but hey, they have it so that’s most important right. ”Full Of Hell take a more thrash/powerviolence approach this time out with two out of three of their songs lasting no more than forty seconds.  Full Of Hell give nods to bands such as Lack Of Interest, Weekend Nachos, and Iron Lung with these three songs.  The band’s trademark experimentation with electronic/noise is still here as well.  Calm The Fire’s three songs are equally as impressive as well.  Calm The Fire offer up three songs of blackened, metallic, and crust flavored hardcore influenced by bands such as Cursed, Integrity, From Ashes Rise, and The Holy Mountain.  Killer 7”, to say the least.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!”

I never saw myself as a huge fan of this down tempo/sludge genre, but these guys produced one hell of a record. Holy shit, my head started banging from the first note. Pissed off music, pissed off vocals and pissed off lyrics. Perfect music to let off some steam.

This might be my favourite ‘comes-out-of-nowhere-release’ of 2012. These guys make some of the most passionate music I’ve heard in a long time. To be honest, I was kinda stepping a bit away from the whole melodic hardcore genre (‘cause of the lack of originality), but Homage made me realise there’s still hope. The best band I can compare them with is Hundredth; if you’re into them, you’ll definitely dig Homage. From the goosebump-giving music to the quality lyrics and passionate vocals: they have it all!

I only checked these guys out recently but right now I’m really into this record. It’s something you can actually play every moment of the day, despite your mood. If you’re feeling good this album will be a great choice to put on, if you’re feeling down this album will fit that just as good. Anyway, musicianship is top notch and the lyrics are great too, the vocals remind me bit of those of Daytrader (when he isn’t screaming). The only remark I might have is that it sometimes sounds a bit alike, but not that much that it annoys you so if you like the genre there is no reason not to download this. For fans of Downsing, Joie De Vivre, … (don’t confuse them with the pop punk band of the same name)

This is just awesome. With ex-members of Bury Your Dead and Too Pure To Die plus The Acacia Strain frontman, Vincent Bennett on vocals. Don’t expect it to sound like TAS or BYD.

Gray Light is one of my favorite albums of 2012 and now they even decide to release something new in 2012 (and it’s for free!); such a cool band. I don’t call myself a big ‘fan’ of that genre, but I defintiely consider this band on the top of the list.

I didn’t consider myself the biggest fan of their previous work ‘Apparently I’m Nothing’ but they improved so incredibly much on this Ep. Everything sounds tighter and the vocals don’t sound as ‘fragile’ anymore. If you’re searching for choruss melodies that’ll haunt you in your head for the next weeks, I recommend you to download this!

This probably might have been my most anticipated record of this year. And it definitely was worth the wait. It’s been out for a while though, but nevertheless deserves to be uploaded on here. I honestly can’t say anything negative about it; it’s just perfect in every way. This five piece from the UK creates a (more melodic) sound  like Counterparts.

First off, what’s up with Australian bands always sounding so damn good and professional? Anyway, here we got a (melodic) hardcore band from Adelaide, and if there is one thing obvious about these guys it’s that they bring a lot of passion to the table. Just a few seconds into the first song you can hear the desperate vocals and you just know this will be a good release. Anyway, they just put out some damn awesome melodic hardcore tracks that might have a bit more punch to them than your average hardcore band. It’s not like they’re re-inventing the wheel or something but they just take that good old formula and make it work. If it was just another boring band I wouldn’t feature them on the blog would I ? SUpport young bands, so do so!

I don’t know how those guys got their hands on this (probably a pre-order or something, they had some sweet deals I remember so if they’re still up you should get yourself one) but I love the fact I can listen to this already. This band is so inasely awesome, they song structures and the originality in the way they appraoch screamo is so damn good. Sometimes chaotic as fuck, other times they throw in a violin and go more mellow (and this in the same song, but the violin is a recurring thing which is awesome). Really, this is a masterpiece in the screamo genre and I urge you not to sleep on this band. Check it out, love it, and support the hell out of these dudes! If you’re into bands like Crocus, Maths,… this is something you need to check out.
